Hello Parents and Primary 2,

I hope this finds you all safe and well this Monday morning. Where is time going? Can you believe it is the last full two weeks of term!?

Home Learning for Primary 2 for our final two weeks of term will focus on The Seaside (Week 9) and Pirates (Week 10). I hope you have lots of fun!

I am missing you all very much Primary 2. Thank you for keeping in touch and sending your photos and work to ClassDojo. It makes me smile to see you all so busy, having fun and working hard at home.

The teachers at Fair Hill have all been very busy writing reports. Mr Brown will be in touch soon with further information. Your child’s class details for next year will accompany your child’s report along with a welcome leaflet from your child’s new teachers.

You are all superstars Primary 2 and your new teachers are very much looking forward to meeting you, welcoming you and supporting you as you settle into your new class in September. There is so much to look forward to!

Take care. Have a really good week.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Welcome to our home learning page for P2!

We will update this page with suggested activities that you can work on from home, each week. We will also be communicating via ClassDojo and look forward to staying in touch and seeing photos of your child’s home learning. If you haven’t already sent your email details to myself at, mknox693@c2kni.net to join ClassDojo, please do as soon as possible and an invite to your child’s class will follow.

The most important thing for you all during this time, is your health and well-being, both emotionally and physically. Some days you will achieve more home learning than others. It depends what else is going on and how you all feel on that given day. There will be highs and lows, and that is normal. Everyone’s circumstances will be different. Please just do what you can.

Parents, you are, and always have been, your child’s primary educator. As well as any home learning you are able to do, make the most of this time to be a family; to bake, to cook, to clean, to sing, to get outside, to garden, to read, to play, to watch tv together. Spending time with your child is the most important thing you can do in these uncertain times!

Look after yourselves and stay safe,

Mrs Knox & Miss Hylands

'Gruffalo stayed in
the cave'
Axel Scheffler and Julia Donaldson's coronavirus cartoons
Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, creators of 'The Gruffalo' have reimagined some of their best known characters in light of the coronavirus crisis to help children cope with social distancing rules, staying at home, home schooling and keeping in touch with family and friends.
The creator Julia Donaldson thought, 'it would be a nice thing for children to see the characters who they know, relating to this situation that they don't understand'.
Like all of their books, the story is enchanting. My two little ones loved it. I've linked the story below if you'd like to share it with your family.

Hello to all our wonderful Primary 2s,

We hope you are settling into a new learning experience at home with your home learning packs. Home learning is a new concept for all of us and we are all learning together. Remember, home learning isn’t the same as school. You have other important things to enjoy at home, like spending time with your families, fresh air outside where possible, and hopefully a lot of helping out with housework, baking, cooking and more! Try to do the tasks you can, when you can, we know you’ll try your very best. We are super proud of each and every one of you and miss you all very much!

Parents and Guardians, we have an exciting and important development for Primary 2. After Easter, we are planning to use an online tool called ClassDojo, in order that we can communicate more effectively with you as parents during these unprecedented times.

ClassDojo is an online tool that will allow us to communicate work for pupils and provide some suggestions for activities at home, while also giving our pupils a chance to send their work to us and stay in touch.

ClassDojo can be used on any device. It is a simple, free mobile app for iOS and Android, and can also be used from a computer at: www.classdojo.com.

Learn more about ClassDojo at www.classdojo.com/LearnMore
www.classdojo.com/PrivacyCenter

We’d really love if every parent could sign up for this tool but in order for you to do so, we will need to send you an invite by email. With this in mind we’re asking if you could complete and send the template below to Mrs Knox via the email address provided. Following this, keep an eye out for your invite in your inbox and follow the link to join your child’s class (it might be worth checking your junk mail in case the invite ends up there instead).

We will send you another email once we’re about to get up and running with ClassDojo. We hope to launch ClassDojo for week beginning 20th April.

Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

Thinking about you all. Stay safe.

With everything that is going on at the moment; big changes to routines and lots of stories on the news it can be a really scary time for children. A nurse has created a book for children called, 'Dave the Dog is worried about Coronavirus'.
The book aims to open up conversation about Coronavirus and some of the things children might be hearing about it and provide truthful information in a reassuring and child friendly manner.
I read the story to both of my children and found it very helpful and reassuring. I hope you will too.

The short story is available online and can be accessed using the link below:

Dear P2,

We'd like to encourage you all to take part in the messages of hope rainbow art project. You can paint, draw, make a collage, create a rainbow in your garden, let your imagination run wild...
You could maybe put your art up in the window of your house so that people can see that you are thinking about them. We want to spread a little bit of hope, positivity and happiness through our community in these difficult times.

Have lots of fun!

Thank you Eva for sending the Superhero Profile below. We'll look forward to sharing more class work when ClassDojo is up and running.
